About us

In 1999, the Australian Gas Association established a trust fund to pursue educational activities in collaboration with the Australian gas industry. The trust is now called the Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT) and maintains the objectives of providing funding for education, professional development and research in the gas industry. It is also the conduit between the Australian gas industry and the International Gas Union.
It is governed by representatives of all sectors of the Australian gas industry: upstream exploration and production, gas transmission pipelines, gas networks and gas appliances.

Research Activities

The Trust funds industry research in Australia. Current research projects include funding for Gas Vision 2050, the Future Fuels CRC and research on household use of gas. We kindly invite you to contact us to find out how to become involved or request funding.

Education Activities

AGIT conducts an annual colloquium Gas Speak, a popular event that provides young industry professionals with skills in communication, liaison and chairing and participating in meetings. We are also looking to hold Gas Speak Executive to support and develop senior management in how to represent the industry going forward.
Other education activities include sponsorship of gas education in schools, such as the Petroleum Club of Western Australia, and community education on gas development.

We kindly invite you to contact us to find out how to become involved or request funding.

IGU representation

As the Australian Charter Member of the International Gas Union (IGU), AGIT represents Australia in IGU deliberations on global gas industry issues and leads some of its research projects. AGIT provides opportunities for people working in the Australian gas industry, particularly young professionals, to participate in IGU international study groups and to attend international gas industry conferences on AGIT scholarships.

Through its membership of the IGU, AGIT also provides feedback to the Australian industry on international developments and sponsors research on matters relevant to the industry.
